Produced by jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels, the 18-carat silver brooch is one of three which were presented to Armstrong along with his other Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins after their historic mission. a fourth brooch had been presented to Rose Kennedy, mom of this belated President John F. Kennedy.
Used by Armstrong’s spouse Janet, the brooch is shaped to resemble the lunar area, detailed with a textured design that mimics the Moon’s craters and terrain that is rocky. brand New Orleans gallery M.S.
